MST Global Partners with MineGlow to Deliver Smart Lighting Solutions for Safer Underground Mines

MST Global and MineGlow have announced a new technology integration that combines the HELIX digital mining platform with MineGlow’s em-Control advanced underground visual alerting system, delivering MST’s next-generation Smart Lighting Solution (SLS) designed to improve visibility, operational awareness and safety in underground mining environments.

MineGlow is recognised for its industrial-grade LED strip lighting solutions engineered specifically for hazardous environments including underground mines, tunnels, and oil and gas facilities. Designed to deliver consistent, glare-free illumination with “daylight-like” visibility, MineGlow systems help eliminate dark spots, improve underground working conditions, and support safer operations in challenging environments.

Through integration with the HELIX platform, MineGlow’s lighting infrastructure now extends beyond illumination to become an intelligent operational communication tool. The combined solution enables underground lighting systems to function as a real-time visual alerting and signalling network capable of communicating operational events directly within the mine environment.

By connecting MineGlow’s em-Control system to HELIX’s real-time data environment, mining operations can trigger dynamic visual alerts across underground lighting infrastructure to support safety and coordination. Applications include vehicle movement warnings, traffic management notifications, exclusion zone alerts, and emergency signalling, delivering highly visible cues that complement existing communication and monitoring systems.

The integration enables lighting systems to respond directly to operational events across the digital mine ecosystem, including fleet movement data, location-based triggers, and live operational alerts. This transforms traditional underground lighting into a connected safety and productivity solution that enhances situational awareness, supports fleet coordination, and improves incident response capabilities.

MineGlow’s LED strip lighting systems are already used extensively across Australian mining operations and are purpose-built for underground environments, offering:

Industry Leaders Comment on the Partnership

Roy Pater, Managing Director at MineGlow, said the collaboration represents a significant evolution in underground lighting infrastructure.

“MineGlow lighting has always been focused on improving visibility and creating safer working environments underground. By integrating with the HELIX platform, our lighting systems become part of the mine’s digital ecosystem not just illuminating the workplace, but actively contributing to operational safety and communication.”

Darry Fisher, Senior VP – Underground at MST Global, said the integration reflects the mining industry’s ongoing shift toward connected underground operations.

“HELIX is designed to unify critical operational systems into a single digital environment that improves visibility, decision-making, and safety. Integrating MineGlow’s lighting technology allows mines to leverage existing infrastructure in a new way, turning lighting into a smart signalling layer that enhances fleet coordination, situational awareness, and operational safety.”

The Smart Lighting Solution further expands the HELIX ecosystem by enabling mining operations to integrate lighting infrastructure into broader digital safety and operational management strategies. By combining advanced illumination, real-time operational data, and intelligent visual signalling, the solution helps create safer, more responsive underground environments while supporting the industry’s continued commitment to safer and more transparent operations.
